We personally are residents of the Town of Poughkeepsie, however, as pastors of John 3:16 Christian Center, we have had personal interaction with Mayor Tkazyik as we have been involved in many city functions, such as the John Flower’s Father’s Day Parade – which honors fathers across the Hudson Valley bringing father’s and family into closer relationship and the Church Picnic which brings God’s Love into the community – handing out food, school supplies and clothes to the community; Past County Commander of American Legion Post 37 – Anthony Leo and his organization of the Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day functions – which honor the military and veterans of this area – past and present. Mayor Tkazyik has proven to be a very faithful supporter of so many of these community events which is a key asset and foundational stone to excellent leadership…..as it shows the love and concern for the people bypasses political motives! Our prayers are with him for continues success in leadership! – Pastors Wayne and Maryann Berry
I just wanted to say how impressed I was to see Collette Lafuente’s endorsement of John Tkazyik. She is one of the best teachers that I ever had at Arlington, and one of the greatest people in Poughkeepsie. There is no doubt that I will be voting for John on 11/8. He is honest and hardworking. Poughkeepsie has become a better place to live under his leadership. – Jane Fisher
As a lifelong resident of the City of Poughkeepsie, I have seen the rise and fall of the City as far as the business district, specifically Main Street is concerned. When I was younger, Main Street used to be the place to be for everything from dining to shopping. Then things took a turn for the worse. Since John Tkazyik has been Mayor, I have seen a substantial change for the better with regard to Main Street and the business district of the City. He has help facilitate a complete turnaround for the better by helping to bring small businesses back into the City. As a lifelong resident himself, John is aware of what this City needs and has shown how much he cares by the things he has achieved since he has been in office. As a member of the Independence Party, I am asking all of my fellow members to join me in voting to re-elect John Tkazyik on November 8th as the Mayor for the City of Poughkeepsie. – Cindy Bogdanowicz
I feel John supports the new small business community, he has come to our aid on multiple occasions and is always willing to listen to even the smallest problems and do what he can to help. We see a major reduction in crime surrounding our lower Main St location and we believe it has a lot to do with John keeping the police dept in full force in our city. We need him in office another 4 years to continue the fight against crime and for his support in new business development issues. – Sally Rich, Karma Lounge
Without hesitation, Mayor John Tkazyik again has my vote, and my full support in the next election this November. John has helped many professionals in Poughkeepsie, including myself in achieving their goals in business. We are all working with the intent of seeing a better City. We’re all in this together, and John’s rolled up his sleeves to help make it happen. So, this coming Election Day, I, Erik Morabito will vote again for Mayor John Tkazyik. – Erik Morabito, Cafe Bocca
We support John Tkazyik for Mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie. Mayor Tkazyik is a lifelong resident of the city and his dedication to this position is unprecedented! Gone are the days of the mid-eighties where the city of Poughkeepsie was in distress… here are the days of business growth and Main Street success! Only a lifelong resident knows our potential and has the passion to keep the momentum to resuscitate this great city! – The Men’s Room Barber crew
As a senior citizen who has lived in Poughkeepsie my entire life, I am in a position to judge the many administrations that have been in power over the years. Poughkeepsie has been governed by various individuals. Our present mayor, John Tkazyik, has been very positive and forward-thinking and has certainly made many decisions that are wise and cost-effective. Many administrations over the years seemed to spend and bond our city way beyond our means. Our present mayor, with the help of our common council, has been prudent and thoughtful regarding our ability to withstand large expenditures.
I am very thankful also for the good work my 8th Ward councilman, Mr. Paul Herman, has been involved with. I can attest to the fact that Paul has never been shy to get into any problems we in our ward have been faced with. During any and all emergencies, his help has always carried the day. In this time when the biggest debate seems to be who is or is not a Democrat, I feel secure with the current mayor and also with our councilman, Mr. Paul Herman. – John J. Mihans (Poughkeepsie Journal, 9/20/2011)
We owe our thanks to City of Poughkeepsie Mayor John Tkazyik for his many accomplishments over the past four years. During difficult and challenging economic times, he has managed to bring a long-awaited and much-needed grocery store to Main Street. This grocery store, which employs many city residents, has made it possible for us to purchase food within walking distance of our homes. More importantly, he has helped low-income families by alleviating their expense of having to take a bus or a taxi to the nearest store.
Mayor Tkazyik’s leadership ability is evident in his efforts to successfully move the waterfront project through its many phases of completion. He has also worked to restore our infrastructure, which is reflected in work that has been done on our streets and sidewalks.
Please join me in supporting Mayor Tkazyik in his bid for re-election so that he can continue to move the residents of the City of Poughkeepsie toward the quality of life we need and deserve. – Robert M. Angarola (Poughkeepsie Journal, 9/6/2011)
John has done a great job as Mayor and The City of Poughkeepsie is doing better. John has worked hard for the residents of the third ward when he was Councilman and is still going the same as Mayor. We have a supermarket in the City of Poughkeepsie for the first time in some time and we have small businesses opening and John continues to work with the City Police and Chief Knap to make the city safer. All of these reasons are why I support John Tkazyik for re-election and why we all should re-elect John Tkazyik as our Mayor. He is good for the City and good for the residents of The City of Poughkeepsie. – Alexander W. Hosier, Jr.
He really cares about our city and fights to improve it for all of us everyday. – Donna Scivolette
Mayor Tkazyik has done everything to make the City a better place to be. New businesses are coming in and we have a Mayor who is always there when you need him. When speaking of future projects, the Mayor mentioned our youth. He is interested in our youth – they are our future. Why do we want to change something that is positive and working for us? We certainly want Mayor Tkazyik for another term! – Edward & Susan Place
